NFC Lisbon 2024: Top Moments and Personal Highlights

Hey everyone! We just got back from NFC Lisbon 2024 the None Fungible Conference Summit, and I can’t wait to share all the incredible moments with you. This event truly redefined digital experiences and showcased the future of Web3 innovation in the most exciting way.

This year, I had the pleasure of attending NFC Summit in Lisbon with our Web3 marketing specialist, Dave Bras. After months of weekly video calls, it was amazing to finally meet with him in person. The energy and openness of the event were incredible, and connecting with our community face-to-face was a highlight for both of us.

Showcase of AI Art and Filmmaking

One of the standout moments was the AI art and filmmaking showcase. The inaugural AIFA Awards celebrated some mind-blowing achievements in AI filmmaking. “Denny the Shark” by Ethereal Moon (Ethereal Gwirl & LeMoon) won Best Film, and Leo Crane from the AI Film Academy talked about how AI is leveling the playing field for creators. It’s exciting to see how technology is democratizing the creative process.

Meeting Inspiring NFT Artists and Speakers

We had the chance to hear from digital art legends like Beeple, Deekaymotion, Claire Silver, Punk6529, and Patrick Amadon. Kevin Abosch’s “Civics” project made us rethink what AI-generated art can be. Personally, watching Beeple’s live performance was a dream come true. I first discovered Beeple about 12 years ago while searching for VJ loops for my own live performances. Seeing his creativity up close was nothing short of inspiring.

Awards and Recognitions

French artist RVig took home the ABS Digital Art Prize for “Les Fleurs du Mal,” a digital reimagining of Baudelaire’s poetry. RVig’s work reminded us that art is always evolving and encouraged us to keep pushing boundaries.

Emerging Web3 Trends and Future Outlook

The discussions at NFC Lisbon were as diverse as they were cutting-edge. From Bitcoin Ordinals to meme tokens, the conference highlighted how AI and blockchain technologies are empowering artists and filmmakers around the world.

Imagine buying a fan jersey embedded with an NFC chip that unlocks exclusive content by tapping your NFT-enabled phone. This kind of integration adds so much value and creates personalized experiences that go beyond the physical item.

The event was packed with performances that fused art, music, and the metaverse. “One Life Two Bodies” by Agoria and The Sandbox was a standout, blending electronic music with visual arts. NOANNE’s music, combined with AI’s limitless potential, took us on a journey into the Web3 movement.

As mixed reality becomes more mainstream, its combination with NFTs is opening up new ways to own digital assets and engage with communities. The presentations at the summit gave us a glimpse into how NFTs could be integrated into physical spaces, hinting at the future of digital interaction.

Networking Opportunities

The summit was a great place to expand our networks, discover new opportunities, and stay updated on the latest trends. Side events, like the Closing Party, were perfect for making valuable connections. I loved meeting Matt Medved at NFC Summit! I’ve listened to all his NFT Now podcasts and always found his insights super inspiring. Chatting with him was fantastic, and his passion for the NFT space is truly infectious.

Panel Discussions and Workshops

The panel discussions and workshops covered a wide range of topics, showing the conference’s dedication to staying on the cutting edge of digital culture. Thought leaders like Robby Yung, Patrick Amadon, and Claire Silver shared their knowledge, promoting a great exchange of ideas and collaboration.

Startup Competitions and Pitch Events

The Gaming Startup Competition was another highlight, bringing together visionaries, entrepreneurs, and investors to spotlight groundbreaking Web3 gaming startups. The top startups pitched to a jury, vying for recognition and investment, fostering innovation in the gaming sector. Additionally, Project Copernicus showcased artifacts symbolizing society’s move towards decentralization, inspiring us all to rethink the future.

Chris and Dave’s NFC Adventure

One of the best parts of NFC Lisbon 2024 was finally meeting Dave in person after months of weekly video calls. It was fantastic to see Dave and get to know each other beyond the screen. We had the chance to really connect, share our ideas in person, and bond over our shared passion for Web3 and digital art. Talking about life, enjoying great meals together, and sharing some laughs made the experience even more special. This face-to-face connection strengthened our partnership and made our collaboration even more dynamic.

Explaining Astrodrift and Highlighting Neurodiversity

Explaining Astrodrift to others and watching their reactions was awesome. Seeing the excitement and interest in people’s eyes as we discussed our project was incredibly motivating. The feedback and support from the community were overwhelming, reaffirming our belief in Astrodrift’s potential.

Folks were especially interested in the neurodiversity aspect of our project. It was heartening to see how many people resonated with our commitment to inclusivity and representation. We had countless conversations about how Astrodrift aims to highlight and celebrate neurodiversity, particularly focusing on ADHD and Autism. Our goal is to make digital art accessible and relatable to a broader audience, and the enthusiasm around this part of our project was truly inspiring.
